Assume Less. Know More.

The idea for Assumeless was born during my husband Jay's 18 month and 1 day battle with brain cancer.  A brilliant and dashing man, the tumor and related treatments profoundly changed his appearance and his ability to communicate.  After an unpleasant encounter at an airport,  I needed to invent a way to quickly share with others what was going on, to prevent harmful assumptions and hurtful behavior.  Through cheeky t-shirts and funny--but informative--cards and signs, we took control back from this wicked cancer.  Jay deserved kindness and support, and so do you and your loved ones.

Making the decision to live your disease "out loud" the way Jay did, is incredibly personal and there is no right or wrong choice.  Having lived with my own chronic disease since childhood, I found that sharing even just a little bit of information prevented others from forming incorrect conclusions.  As we often joked during Jay's illness, 10% of people were always going to be terrible; the other 90% just needed to know what was going on.  We blended advocacy with a bit of humor, and what we received in return was the best that humankind had to offer.  I am so hopeful that these resources do the same for you.
